Usercentrics Data Shield distinguishes itself from other solutions as it doesn't merely block cookie banners; rather, it takes into consideration the privacy level you have selected to respond to cookie banners. This ensures that visited websites remain fully functional, instead of suppressing essential functions through blocked banners.
The technical process is as follows:
- Upon installation, Usercentrics Data Shield registers itself with various browser events to become active when a page is loaded.
- Specific CSS rules prevent the visual display of the banner, but explicitly do not block the technical execution of the Consent Management Platform (CMP). This measure is solely intended to enhance the user experience.
- The plugin manages CMP elements using DOM selectors and simulates the same click actions that a user would perform to choose the desired consent option.
